We all know January is the crunch point for tax however there are a few deadlines coming up before that that you need to be aware of if you fall into certain categories of tax payer:
If you need to make a submission for the 2024/25 tax year and haven't before you will need to ensure that you have submitted a UTR registration by the 5th of October
If you’re one of the few still filing by post, your paper tax return needs to be with HMRC by the end of October, always use tracked and signed-for delivery so you’ve got proof it was sent
That said, let’s be honest most people aren’t filing on paper these days
Your online return and balancing payment are both due, add in any payments on account and suddenly the number can look bigger than you expected
Leaving it to the last minute is how people get hit with late penalties, unexpected bills and sleepless nights in January with a bit of planning now you can save a lot of stress later
